Revision Techniques:
- When making these notes, I tried to keep it as concise as possible; therefore, I highly recommend you read every part of it to ensure that you have a clear knowledge of the entire topic/unit and not miss out on anything.
- Meanwhile, I suggest you read over the notes BEFORE you begin your lesson on it in school. While doing so, you don’t necessarily have to understand all the materials but do so to get a good idea of what to look out for when studying this unit/topic.
- I have included all definitions, equations, and a summary for a particular unit/topic at the end of every file. Be sure to check that out and make sure you know them by heart. (You may also download apps like Anki to assist you in memorizing complicated definitions and equations.) (Definition & equation for all units are also available in a separate doc)
- Over the course of two years, you should and must be familiar with what is and what is not in the data booklet to save you time in the EXAM.
- For topics like Stoichiometry (unit 1), Energetics/thermochemistry SL&HL (unit 5&15), Chemical Kinetics HL (unit 16), Equilibrium HL (unit 17), Acid and Bases SL&HL (unit 8&18) and Redox Process (unit 9&19) it is better to practice with past papers as it is often based on diagrams or math.
- Although Unit 4,14 & 10,20 are the longest and are often considered to be difficult, however, it is mainly based on memorization, meaning that the outcome (score/grade) of that unit should be equivalent to the amount of effort/time you’ve put in. Unlike other units where careless mistakes can easily take place.
- Finally, despite what career goal you have, when it comes to choosing options, I would highly recommend option D. This is because I think option D is one of the most applicable topics in IB chemistry and it can provide you some detailed knowledge on drugs/diseases we use/encounter on a daily base (especially under the circumstance of the coronavirus)
